Meadowdale Beach Park
The boys and I 'opted out' on Black Friday for this beautiful, suburban hike that ends with a classic Pacific Northwest beach. We even got PepPep to step away from the football games and join us!
The only tricky thing about this trail is that you start at the top. It's nice to spend the first part of the journey coasting downhill, but don't forget as you linger at the lovely little beach, the hard part comes at the end!
There are lots of different types of second growth forest to ramble through, and on this day, the creek at the lower half of the trail was rushing! After another half mile or so along this active salmon stream, you and the water cross under the train tracks and on to the sandy gravel of the Puget Sound.
Insane luck with the weather this day! It was cold, but so bright after several weeks of typical grey Washington weather. The sky was so blue! The water was so shiny! The sun was so exhilarating! The Racoon even insisted on taking off his shoes so he could squish his toes in the sand.
Oh! And if anyone knows how I go about getting the job of being the resident park ranger who lives in the cozy A-frame on site, let me know ASAP! Dream job!!
